Trapped in a surreal, metaphysical realm following a devastating car crash, Kale and Hicham, an interracial couple, must navigate their past traumas and present fears. A SOUND FROM WITHIN is the third and last movie of a trilogy of shorts about the after-life I started 12 years ago with the making of CANONIZE ME and later ANTES DEL MICTLAN.
Although this story its set in a surreal world, the dilemma that carries this movie through is as real as it can be, letting us see in a subtle way some of the topics the world is currently facing: gay marriage, adoption, immigration legal and illegal.
The antagonist in this story shares a common thread with the other two shorts, its always closer than you think. In one way or the other my protagonist are their own antagonist. So the emotional elements at the heart of the story are always analyzed by the viewers and the protagonist.
